Tour Details

Camino PortuguesStart your journey at the vibrant city of Porto.

Travel along the coast and its white sandy beaches prior to turning inland.

Cross Rio Mino and the border across Spain and Portugal via a long bridge.

You will see the beautiful structure of cathedral in Tui up on the hill near the river.

After passing many historical town and villages, you will reach Redondela, a city with the skyline crossed by two major railway viaducts.

As you continue to Pontevedra, you will cross the old Roman bridge that gave the city its name.

Dip your feet in the mineral water in the center of Caldas de Reis.

When you reach Padron, you will be in the town in which, according to the legend, Apostle Saint James first preached during his stay in Spain.

Day 1 Arrival in Porto

Accommodation 3 star hotel.

Day 2Stage 1 – Vilar do Pinheiro - Arcos (Vila do Conde) – 17 km

Orientation talk. Private Transfer from Porto to Vilar do Pinheiro to start the walk. Accommodation 3 stars hotel.
Today you will be walking on quiet country roads with many chapels to visit along the way. When you arrive in Vila do Conde with a beautiful old town, a quiet harbor with replica 14th century ship used for European trade and a second largest in Portugal aqueduct leading to the Convento de Santa Clara.

Day 3Stage 2 - Arcos (Vila do Conde) – Barcelos – 20 km

Accommodation 3 stars hotel.
You will be walking in fragrant eucalyptus and pine forests with lots of shade, rolling hills and countryside with small villages. You will cross and old stone bridge to enter the medieval town town of Barcelos with its colorful gardens, cockerel sculptures, interesting pottery and artisan shops. Local cafes offer great seafood dishes as you are not far from the coast. You can visit the the site of the old fortified palace along the river and the Tower of Barcelos or climb the nearby hill for magnificent views from the shrine of Nossa Senhora da Franqueira.

Day 4Stage 3 – Barcelos - Balugães – 15 km

Today is a day of forested countryside walks to arrive to a small town of Balugães.

Day 5Stage 4 – Balugães - Ponte de Lima – 18 km

Accommodation country hotel 3 stars.
Today you will be walking over green hills, beautiful fields and small villages. Ponte de Lima is situated along the river Lima is one of the oldest towns in Portugal which was originally a Roman settlement. The town features an old Roman bridge with many large arches and a beautiful riverside promenade. It also has beautiful gardens and many azulejo tiles murals to admire in the old town. Ponte de Lima is known for its vinho verde wines and holds one of the largest open air markets every other Monday.

Day 6Ponte de Lima - Cossourado (Paredes de Coura) – 22 km

Day 7Stage 6 - Cossourado (Paredes de Coura) – Valença – 14 km

Day 8Stage 7 – Valença - O Porriño – 20 km

Today you will pass the town of Redondela which is known for its railway sky bridges. In Arcade, you will cross an old Roman bridge which is still functional after so many centuries. This small fishing town has charming old homes lining its streets and the cafes offer the oysters, a local specialty.

Day 10Stage 9 – Arcade - Pontevedra – 13 km

Accommodation 3 stars hotel.
A short walk today will lead you to the city of Pontevedra where you can walk across and old bridge that gave the city its name. You can visit multiple churches, monuments and squares in the old town. Cafes and restaurants are plentiful in this bustling town which has a long maritime history and trading traditions.

Day 11Stage 10 – Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis – 22 km

Accommodation 2 stars hotel.
Today you will walk in beautiful eucalyptus and pine forests before you arrive to the town of Caldas de Reis known for its mineral springs. You can take a stroll along the river Umia, visit a lovely botanical park and can dip your feet in mineral water in a spring bath under the pergola along the river bank.

Day 12Stage 11 - Caldas de Reis – Padron- 21 km

Accommodation 3 stars hotel.
More beautiful forested walks today to reach Padron with its impressive riverside promenade, many churches, fountains, museums and a large open air market. Don’t forget to taste the famous mild pimientos (peppers) de Padron and attend the pimientos fiesta if you are here in August.

Day 13Stage 12 – Padron - Santiago de Compostela – 22 km

Accommodation 3 stars hotel.
Excitement will be building today as you approach Santiago today. Take the time to attend the pilgrims’ mass at the Cathedral and enjoy the historical significance of many ancient sites this UNESCO World Heritage Site old town has to offer.
