Your trip will start in the bustling city of Porto, famous for its port wine, and follow the coast of the Atlantic Ocean via charming seaside villages.
You will enjoy the white sandy beaches of northern Portugal and Galicia.
A short ferry ride will take you across Rio Mino and the international border between
Portugal and Spain into Galicia.
You will be rewarded with stunning countryside and majestic views of Islas Cies, an island archipelago part of the National Park of Atlantic Islands, located in the ocean just west of the estuary mouth of Ria de Vigo.
At the end of its inlet, you will turn inland at Redondela, a city with the skyline crossed by two major railway viaducts. As you continue to Pontevedra, you will cross the old Roman bridge that gave the city its name.
Dip your feet in the mineral water in the center of Caldas de Reis.
When you reach Padron, you will be in the town in which, according to the legend, Apostle Saint James first preached during his stay in Spain.
Both Portugal and Spain are rich with history, local traditions and specialty cuisine. This tour will allow you to sample the best of their cultures as you slowly discover their charming towns and countryside. The ocean views will accompany you for a large part of the trip.

Today you will be walking in the Northern Littoral Natural Park, a protected coastal area with rolling sand dunes near the Cávado River Estuary. You can stop by many white sandy beaches, pass by a fort andvisit by the Maritime Museum. Enjoy locally seafood dishes with fresh crab, mussels, and shrimp cooked in various rice and stew dishes. The town of Esposende is home to many museums and historical churches.

Another day of inspiring seaside walking passing through the beach towns. As you arrive in Viana do Castelo, the view of the church of Santa Luzia will greet you from the hillside. You can take the cable car to the top for amazing city and ocean views.

The coastal camino will lead you today to Caminha, the last town on the Portuguese side before you take a short ride on the ferry boat across the Miño river. The ferry offers multiple crossings a day but the schedule varies each time of year depending on the tides. You will enjoy the view of Monte de Santa Tecla as you cross the international river border by boat. You can visit the ruins of the ancient Celtic settlement on the side of this mountain.

As you pass through eucalyptus forests and seaside paths, the monastery of Santa María la Real will be an impressive site overlooking the ocean. It is built in Romanesque style from the 12th century with a baroque façade from the 18th century and has been declared a National Monument.

Today your walk will lead you out of Vigo inland leaving the Bay of Vigo. At Redondela, the coastal Camino joins the central Portuguese Camino. In Arcade, you will cross an old Roman bridge which is still functional after so many centuries. This small fishing town has charming old homes lining its streets and the cafes offer the oysters, a local specialty.

A short walk today will lead you to the city of Pontevedra where you can walk across and old bridge that gave the city its name. You can visit multiple churches, monuments and squares in the old town. Cafes and restaurants are plentiful in this bustling town which has a long maritime history and trading traditions.

Today you will walk in beautiful eucalyptus and pine forests before you arrive to the town of Caldas de Reis known for its mineral springs. You can take a stroll along the river Umia, visit a lovely botanical park and can dip your feet in mineral water in a spring bath under the pergola along the river bank.
